WOOD FIRED SHACK is the love child of carnivore burger loving Paul and vegetarian pizza addict Avia. We love food in case that wasn’t clear. We have an interesting background between us with Paul growing up in Malta and eating so much amazing pizza he decided to become a chef in hope that one day he could open his own restaurant, and Avia’s experience with great customer service......typical chatter box!
It also just so happens that we moved down to north wales to make our dream of owning a restaurant a reality and so WOOD FIRED SHACK was born (our first child).
We first opened in July 2019 after deciding that Bangor was the right place to set up shop as Avia was born here, as was our beautiful baby daughter Lola, who we found out we were expecting on opening night and was born a couple of days before COVID-19 lockdown. We wanted to contribute something to the high street and fell in love with the iconic building.
The restaurant is situated in the heart of busy Bangor High Street and is decorated in a cool, relaxed style as well as overlooking the beautiful cathedral making it the perfect spot to come in, have a coffee, grab a pizza, or enjoy a cocktail with friends! We are super passionate about good food but also about good service so creating a warm, inclusive welcoming vibe was key.
